The 2026 FIFCL Unveils Its Program: 5 Days of Film, Comedy, and Events in Liège

From November 10 to 14, 2026, the Liège International Comedy Film Festival returns for its 11th edition, filled with laughter, new discoveries, and memorable encounters. With the Palais des Congrès as the festival’s new hub, more than 40 films, over 150 guests, and a selection of films from around the world, the FIFCL is set to bring Liège to life for five days.

A New Milestone for the FIFCL

For its 11th edition, the FIFCL is expanding its scope while retaining what defines its identity: the close connection between artists, industry professionals, and the public.

The Liège Convention Center will serve as the festival’s new headquarters and will host, among other events, award ceremonies, panel discussions, the Professional Area, and several screenings. In addition to this new venue, attendees will also be able to visit the Cité Ardente’s partner movie theaters.

Over the course of five days, the festival will feature more than 40 films, two official competitions—for feature films and short films—an international comedy showcase, preview screenings, special screenings, and numerous meet-and-greets with the artists.

Jean Dujardin, Marie-Anne Chazel, Lambert Wilson, Agnès Jaoui, Bernard Campan… some truly distinguished guests!

Once again this year, the FIFCL will bring together leading figures from the worlds of film and comedy.

The opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted by the duo Éric and Quentin, with Cathy Immelen joining them to interview the guests of honor.

Lambert Wilson, the FIFCL’s special guest of honor, will also be returning to Liège.

A Prestigious International Jury Led by Marie-Anne Chazel

The feature film competition will be judged by an international jury chaired by Marie-Anne Chazel.

Joining him are: Paloma Bloyd, Gérard Krawczyk, Stéphane De Groodt, Jarry, and Lætitia Dosch.

Together, they will watch the seven feature films in competition and award the prestigious Golden Bull.

7 films in competition for the Golden Bull

The feature film competition will offer an international perspective on comedy, with films from France, Canada, Quebec, Norway, Germany, Afghanistan, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Among the must-see events:

“No Good Men”

by Shahrbanoo Sadat

In a Kabul on the brink of collapse, a cynical camerawoman and a star reporter document the city’s final days of freedom. The first Afghan romantic comedy, this feature film weaves a poignant romance against a backdrop of political and social turmoil.

“A Big Shortcut”

by Armand Foëx and Clément Devilliers

Set in the heart of the Breton countryside, the desperate schemes of four young people to save a restaurant and launch a jewelry brand eventually collide. This micro-budget ensemble debut offers a fresh, choreographed, and decidedly offbeat rural chronicle.

“Camembert”

by Matthieu Rumani and Nicolas Slomka

Featuring a star-studded cast (Kristin Scott Thomas, Alex Lutz, Panayotis Pascot), this sharp ensemble comedy dissects the pretense of family life. A delightful behind-closed-doors drama where secrets burst forth with as much force as the flavor of a well-aged cheese.

“The Incomer”

by Louis Paxton

The unexpected arrival of a stranger disrupts the eccentric daily lives and well-kept secrets of the residents of a small, isolated Scottish island. A quintessentially British comedy—funny and endearing—that celebrates the spirit of community in the face of the unknown.

“Blaise”

by Dimitri Planchon and Jean-Paul Guigue

While his parents desperately struggle to salvage their social reputation, a 16-year-old teenager—introverted and overly polite—embarks on a completely improvised revolutionary crusade for love. A lively social satire with a biting and absurd tone.

“François.e”

by Jean-François Asselin

To secure grants, a cynical screenwriter (Louis Morissette) falsely pretends to be a woman in transition and finds himself caught in his own trap. Co-written with Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, this daring comedy-drama intelligently explores deception and diversity.

“Barça Zou”

by Paul Nouhet

Ten years after a formative summer in Barcelona, four childhood friends try to piece together the timeline of their lost journey over the phone. Between nostalgia for skateboarding and dreamlike flights of fancy, this debut feature film tenderly captures the transition to adulthood.

Short Films in the Spotlight

The FIFCL also continues its commitment to short films with an international competition featuring 13 films.

The Short Film Jury will be chaired by David Salles, alongsideEnora Hope, Salomé Dewaels, Marie-Ange Casta, Bella Kim, and Gillian Mussano.

Audiences can see this selection on Saturday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m., at the Palais des Congrès.

Special screenings for all audiences

The schedule isn’t limited to competitions.

The festival will feature, among other things, OSS 117: Rio Is No Longer Responding, which will be screened during the Kick-off event dedicated to this year’s official poster, with a special appearance by Jean Dujardin.

Other highlights: *Josèphe* by Anaïs Aidoud, starring JoeyStarr, Catherine Jacob, and Pierre Richard, Ducobu and the Ghost of Saint-Potache by Élie Semoun, as well as a special screening of *Ma vie ma gueule* by Sophie Fillières, with Agnès Jaoui in attendance.

The festival will also highlight Belgian cinema and feature a “Regards on Europe” selection.

A festival that also caters to industry professionals

The FIFCL reaffirms its commitment to being a true meeting place for the entire industry.

The Espace Pro will feature, among other things, a day dedicated to careers in film, in partnership with SIEP and Amplo, as well as a program designed for professionals and emerging talent looking to advance their careers in the industry.

Meetings, discussions, networking, and the discovery of new talent will round out the program for the general public.

Liège to the beat of cinema

The FIFCL will also take over the city with its now-unmissable “Liège Walk of Fame.” Jean Dujardin, Agnès Jaoui, David Salles, and Bernard Campan will each unveil a new plaque on Rue Pont d’Avroy during this 11th edition.

And because the FIFCL is also a celebration, the ceremonies will combine film, comedy, and music, including a musical interlude by TeddyBear during the opening ceremony.

5 days to laugh, explore, and share

With an international lineup, preview screenings, two competitions, special events, and more than 150 confirmed guests, the 2026 FIFCL aims, now more than ever, to make Liège an unmissable destination for lovers of comedy and cinema.
