Writer, director, actor and humorist Stefan Liberski will be the patron of CineComedies Lab 2025, taking over from Jean-François Halin, Agnès Jaoui, Michel Leclerc, Benoît Mariage, Lucien Jean-Baptiste and Victoria Bedos.
Born in Brussels in 1951 and a graduate in Art History from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Stefan Liberski lived in Italy between 1979 and 1983. He followed the filming of Federico Fellini ‘s City of Women and lived in Rome. In 1985, he returned to Brussels, where he worked first as an advertising copywriter, then as a producer, director and actor for television and film.
Among his five feature films, Tokyo Fiancée (2014) and L’Art d’être heureux (2024) won the Coup de cœur CineComedies award. In parallel with his work as a filmmaker, he pursues a career as a writer.
As a reminder, the CineComedies Lab offers tailor-made support for up to six carefully selected feature film projects.
Under the writing direction of Jonathan Rio, the authors benefit from the expertise of script consultants, who are themselves confronted on a daily basis with the challenges of dramaturgy. The program includes work on narrative structure, characters and dialogue, as well as an introduction to the art of pitching, an essential step in convincing financiers and producers.
Since the creation of the residency, 34 projects have been developed; several scripts have been optioned by producers and are the subject of development agreements.
In 2023, writer-director Émilie Fornasse received support from WALLIMPACT for her project Le Temps des conquêtes.
In 2024, Gilles de Voghel ‘s Sur Place project won the support of RTBF.
