She has lived a thousand cinema lives, presided over or taken part in the juries of festivals such as Cannes, Deauville and Shanghai, acted for the greatest directors and won over audiences the world over. Actress, screenwriter, director, Chanel muse, Carole Bouquet places “nothing higher than laughter, in life as in cinema”. For the organizers of the Liège International Comedy Film Festival, entrusting her with the presidency of the International Jury for this 9th edition is an obvious choice, and an immense honor.

Elegant, yes, but also talented, luminous, committed, free, independent and passionate, capable of looking at the world through the eyes of a child, Carole Bouquet will form around herself a Jury worthy of her, to choose the Golden Bull from among the feature films in competition. The competition gets more demanding every year, and this presidency should add a new dimension to it.

At a ceremony full of surprises, Carole Bouquet will receive a Taureau d’Or for her prestigious career, and a slab bearing her name on the Walk of Fame in the Rue Pont d’Avroy, in the heart of the city.

Carole Bouquet’s definition of cinema:

Watching a film on a tablet has nothing to do with the experience of seeing it in the cinema. I experience what I see on the screen. Cinema is like looking through a keyhole into someone’s home. Cinema is a special language, it’s bigger than everyday life, it’s about transcending reality. Framing is essential to cinema, then as now. A very detailed storyboard does a film a lot of good. Framing shouldn’t be improvised on a set; it’s a huge construction job. There are great directors in every era. “.

Question to Adrien François, General Delegate of the FIFCL: Why did you ask Carole Bouquet to chair the Jury for this 9th edition?

I share Carole Bouquet’s view of comedy: “It’s perhaps the most difficult thing in the world to perform and direct”… A good comedy is above all a good script, good lines, good rhythm and good casting. The strength of a good comedy lies in its ability to bring together young people, adults and senior citizens. Carole Bouquet is an inspiring, elegant and generous woman on screen, and she has already given me so many emotions through the characters she has played. I compare comedy to a dessert: it’s all a question of precision, the right proportions and the right ingredients. If I wanted to ask Carole Bouquet to chair the jury, it’s also because she has the undeniable ability to unite all generations. It’s a great honor to welcome her to Liège. I also understand that she likes to laugh, party and discover local products. The Cité Ardente abounds in them, and I’m looking forward to introducing her to our specialties: the authentic Liège waffle, boulet liégeois, lacquemant, boudin blanc à la marjolaine, as well as our wines, beers and many other delicacies! “.
