A glamorous, warm and joyful evening in the magnificent Selys ballroom! Intelligent and enjoyable, too, thanks to Maître Philippe Reynaert, who was delighted with the event and delighted the audience with the quality of his preparation. The audience applauded a fabulous French actor, André Dussollier, who received from Jean-Marc Peyrefitte, the director of his latest film*, a Taureau d’or, THE award of the Liège International Comedy Film Festival.
Great humility, a fine sense of humor and tremendous kindness are the hallmarks of the man who earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in literature before embarking on a career in theater and film. Does he comment on Perceval le Gallois, and the difficulty of reciting 12th-century verse on horseback, in the company of Fabrice Lucchini, or does he point out that “François Truffaut is first and foremost the first spectator of his films”, of course. He adds, in a sort of summing-up, “that you don’t know anything about a film – its stakes, its reception – until you set foot on the set. And that’s great,” or that “What’s nice is to play different characters. It’s being part of another person, embodying them. It’s not just what you look like, it’s the person inside that counts”, of course.
Above all, we’ll remember the moments of laughter, confidences and overall emotion that this 7th edition of the FIFCL has to offer. And the words of Jean-Marc Peyrefitte: “André Dussollier is one of those people who give so much. I’d like to thank him so much!
Liège is, and will remain, a melting pot of conviviality, closeness and tenderness, and we’re already looking forward to the 8th edition next November!
