of the 9th edition of the FIFCL

Once again this year, the Liège International Comedy Film Festival reinforced its position as Europe’s leading festival dedicated to international comedy, thanks to the quality of the films in competition and the renown of its guests, as well as an exceptional attendance record. In a nutshell:

  • Over 21,500 festival-goers thrilled to the rhythm of FIFCL over five days, from Wednesday to Sunday. This success was confirmed in theatres, where over 90% of screenings and special events were sold out.
  • Actors, directors, producers, scriptwriters and technicians: all the film professions were represented in Liège, illustrating the diversity of comedy.

Feature films

The Feature Film Jury / International Jury, made up of Carole Bouquet (Jury President), Frédéric Chau, Sarah Perles, Mariloup Wolfe, Jean-Yves Roubin, and Lionel Abelanski, awarded the following prizes:

  • Golden Bull for Best Film: Kneecap by Rich Peppiatt (Ireland)
  • Special Prize: En fanfare by Emmanuel Courcol (France)
  • Best Actor Award: Pierre Lottin for his role in En fanfare by Emmanuel Courcol (France)
  • Best Actress Award: Juliette Bharucha for her role in La petite et le Vieux (Quebec)
  • Be tv Feature Film Prize: À toute allure by Lucas Bernard (France)
  • RTBF Feature Film Prize: En fanfare by Emmanuel Courcol (France)
  • Prix Longs métrages de la Province de Liège: Kneecap by Rich Peppiatt (Ireland)
  • Prix de la Critique de l’Union de la presse cinématographique belge: Kneecap by Rich Peppiatt (Ireland)

Short films

The Short Film Jury, made up of Sarah Stern (Jury President), Bruno Sanches, Nicolas Descalles, Tiphaine Daviot, Anaël Snoek and Manon Verkaeren, also awarded the following prizes:

  • Taureau d’Or for Best Short Film: Allez ma fille by Chloé Jouannet
  • Best Screenplay: Extras by Marc-Antoine Lemire
  • The Be tv Short Film Prize: Les gendarmes et les voleurs by Adrien Guedra-Degeorges and Maxime Azzopardi
