Jean Dujardin, Special Guest at the 11th edition of the FIFCL

The Liège International Comedy Film Festival (FIFCL) is particularly proud to announce the participation of Jean Dujardin as a special guest at its 11th edition.

To celebrate this event, the FIFCL has also chosen to feature Jean Dujardin on the festival’s official poster, using an image that has become iconic in the world of *OSS 117* (“Rio ne répond plus“), as a nod to one of his most iconic roles.

This reference will resonate particularly strongly this year, as “OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies,“ the first installment of the series directed by Michel Hazanavicius, will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

On this occasion, the film will be screened on November 10, the day of the festival’s opening ceremony, with Jean Dujardin in attendance.

Actor, screenwriter, director, producer… Jean Dujardin has built a remarkable career marked by popular success, artistic boldness, and international recognition.

Audiences discovered him and immediately took to him as Loulou, Chouchou’s unforgettable alter ego in*Un gars, une fille*. From *Brice de Nice* to*Les Infidèles*,*Le Retour du héros*, and*Un homme à la hauteur*, Jean Dujardin quickly established himself as one of the leading figures in French comedy. He also demonstrated this ease in more dramatic roles in films such as“La French,” “J’accuse,”“Novembre,” and“Les Rayons et les Ombres.”

In 2011, his portrayal of a silent-film star in*The Artist* marked a historic turning point. After winning the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival, Jean Dujardin went on to win the Golden Globe and then the Oscar for Best Actor for this role.

The FIFCL is delighted and proud to welcome this extraordinary artist to Liège, whose talent, elegance, and irresistible touch of whimsy have captivated several generations of audiences.

On this occasion, Jean Dujardin will receive a Golden Bull and leave his handprint on the Liège Walk of Fame, where he will join the ranks of Jean Reno, Christian Clavier, Benoit Poelvoorde, Nathalie Baye, Carole Bouquet, and Lambert Wilson, among others.

And because a special guest at the FIFCL is never treated quite like any other, a few surprises will be in store for him—ones that live up to his sense of humor and the unique world that surrounds his most memorable characters.

With Jean Dujardin as a special guest and the face of a tribute poster for OSS 117, the FIFCL promises an 11th edition with a delightfully iconic flair.

Europe’s only festival dedicated to international comedies

For over 10 years, the Liège International Comedy Film Festival has been celebrating comedy in all its forms through a competition that is unique in Europe. The FIFCL is the only European festival devoted entirely to international comedies.

Each year, it welcomes world or Belgian premieres of films from all over the world: pure comedies, social comedies, romantic comedies, dramatic comedies, black comedies or musical comedies, presented as feature films, shorts or documentaries, in official competition, out of competition or in special screenings.

The competition is crowned by the award of the Golden and Crystal Bulls.

In addition to screenings, the festival also features meetings with cinema personalities, professional events, a CineComédies Lab writing residency, a co-production forum, a cinema trade fair, exhibitions and concerts.

Since its creation, the FIFCL has welcomed a host of film stars including Jean Reno, Nathalie Baye, Carole Bouquet, Lambert Wilson, Gérard Lanvin, André Dussollier, Karin Viard, Dany Boon, Franck Dubosc, François Berléand, Marie-Anne Chazel, Bouli Lanners, Christian Clavier, Benoît Poelvoorde and Josiane Balasko.
