Year after year, the FIFCL continues to deepen the dialogue it began from its very inception with Belgian audiovisual professionals! And every year, unfortunately, the same observation holds true: comedy doesn’t necessarily have it easy in French-speaking Belgium. One might even say that those who, against all institutional odds, manage to conceive, produce, and finance works that make people laugh or smile are very lucky!
With that in mind, we figured that Friday the 13th was the perfect day to weigh the relative importance of luck, talent, and hard work by taking a close look (starting at 10:13 a.m.!) at two specific examples: Catherine Cosme’s comedy-drama, “Sauvons les Meubles,” and Fred De Loof’s film, which brings a joyful conclusion to the television adventures of the “Barakis.”
To discuss this, in addition to Catherine and Fred (a tribute to Les Rita Mitsouko!), Philippe Reynaert will welcome Julie Esparbes (Hélicotronc), David Mathy (Coco arrose la culture), and Jennifer Ritter (Atata) to discuss production, as well as Sylvain Daï, one of the series’ screenwriters, who had to adapt his writing style to the constraints of the feature film.
