Agnès Jaoui celebrated at the 11ᵉ Liège International Comedy Film Festival

The Liège International Comedy Film Festival (FIFCL) announces the presence of Agnès Jaoui at its 11ᵉ edition. The actress, screenwriter and director will meet festival-goers and accredited guests to discuss her career and reveal the secrets of good comedy!

On this occasion, Agnès Jaoui will receive a Taureau d’or for her entire career, and will inaugurate a slab in her name on the Liège Walk of Fame.

The award recognizes a “complete artist” who, in a career spanning forty years, has won no fewer than 7 Césars, 5 feature films including “Le Goût des autres” (César for Best Film and Best Screenplay in 2000), and an honorary César in 2024 for her entire career, as well as some fifty screen roles.

For Adrien FrançoisGeneral Delegate of the festival, invite Agnès Jaoui was an obvious choice: ” Agnès Jaoui embraces comedy as one embraces one’s loved one, with passion, conviction and panache. She has put so much laughter and emotion into what she has written, directed and performed that it’s a great opportunity for FIFCL to welcome her, and for festival-goers to come and hear her. I’m looking forward to it!

Alain Resnais’s “On connaît la chanson” (1997)

Highlights include Alain Resnais’ “Smoking/No Smoking” and “On connaît la chanson”, and Cédric Klapisch’s “Un air de famille”. Alone or in duet with Jean-Pierre Bacri, Agnès Jaoui has created some of the most striking comedies of French cinema in recent years, each offering a viewpoint that is both lucid and profoundly humanist.

The FIFCL team is honored and proud to welcome her, and in turn, reserve a few of her secret surprises for her.

Europe’s only festival dedicated
to international comedies

For over 10 years, the Liège International Comedy Film Festival has been celebrating comedy in all its forms through a competition that is unique in Europe. The FIFCL is the only European festival devoted entirely to international comedies. Each year, it welcomes world or Belgian premieres of films from all over the world: pure, social, romantic, dramatic, black or musical comedies, presented as features, shorts or documentaries, in official competition, out of competition or in special screenings.
