Marie-Anne Chazel, president!
In high school, she met those who were to become her fellow actors: Thierry Lhermitte, Gérard Jugnot, Michel Blanc and Christian Clavier. With them, she grew up on the stage before conquering the screen, forging over the decades a singular place in the landscape of French cinema: that of a popular, sunny artist deeply attached to comedy in all its forms.
If its name immediately evokes laughter, fantasy and that touch of absurdity so dear to
to Belgian audiences (thanks to Zézette, Ginette, Yvette,…) Marie-Anne Chazel also embodies an artistic rigor nourished by her activities as a director and screenwriter. Her multiple viewpoints make her the ideal chairwoman to lead the deliberations of the FIFCL International Jury.
Indissociable from the Splendid troupe ( “Les Bronzés”, “Le Père Noël est une ordure” or “Les Visiteurs”), she has also built up a rich and eclectic career, moving with equal ease from theater (“Représailles”, “La famille et le potager”, “Parle-moi d’amour”…) – to the big screen (“Juste mise aux points” (2026), “3 jours et 30 jours max”, “Ma famille t’adore déjà”, “Les Sœurs Soleil”, “La vengeance d’un amour”…).) – to the big screen (“Juste une mise aux points” (2026), “3 jours et 30 jours max”, “Ma famille t’adore déjà”, “Les Sœurs Soleil”, “La vengeance d’une blonde”..) – to cultural TV films (“Le Malade Imaginaire”, “Le Boeuf Clandestin”, “collection Maupassant”…) and TV series (“Un crime presque parfait”, “Brocéliande”, “Le Mystère du Lac”…), never ceasing to explore new territory.
Curious, daring, empathetic and passionate about people and stories, she readily asserts her taste for experimentation and new challenges. An energy and a freedom of tone that fully resonate with the spirit of the FIFCL.
From November 10 to 14, 2026, Marie-Anne Chazel will take on an essential role: that of President of the International Jury for this 11th edition of the FIFCL.
“ It’s a great pleasure to welcome Marie-Anne Chazel as President of our International Jury. Her background, her vision of comedy and her commitment to popular yet demanding works perfectly embody the DNA of the FIFCL. “
Europe’s only festival dedicated to international comedies
For over 10 years, the Liège International Comedy Film Festival has been celebrating comedy in all its forms through a competition that is unique in Europe. The FIFCL is the only European festival devoted entirely to international comedies.
Each year, it welcomes world or Belgian premieres of films from all over the world: pure comedies, social comedies, romantic comedies, dramatic comedies, black comedies or musical comedies, presented as feature films, shorts or documentaries, in official competition, out of competition or in special screenings.
The competition is crowned by the award of the Golden and Crystal Bulls.
In addition to screenings, the festival also features meetings with cinema personalities, professional events, a CineComédies Lab writing residency, a co-production forum, a cinema trade fair, exhibitions and concerts.
Since its creation, the FIFCL has welcomed a host of film stars including Jean Reno, Nathalie Baye, Carole Bouquet, Lambert Wilson, Gérard Lanvin, André Dussollier, Karin Viard, Dany Boon, Franck Dubosc, François Berléand, Marie-Anne Chazel, Bouli Lanners, Christian Clavier, Benoît Poelvoorde and Josiane Balasko.
